Baby Alayna- Part 1

What a day. Yesterday was wonderful, we had a fairly relaxing morning with Taylynn and Preston. Taylynn was so excited to go to Keri's house, I think she asked if it was time about 20 times. Preston was very clingy to his daddy. I heard Preston say once to Aaron, daddy don't leave me :( He knew something was going on and when is daddy is home in the morning, he is all over his daddy.

We are so blessed to have Keri and Jamie in our life. They took Taylynn and Preston for the day and I know the kids had a blast. Aaron and I got to the hospital around 11am and did some paperwork then headed to triage. They got me all ready for surgery at 1pm, but it was delayed until 1:30pm, no big deal whats another 30 minutes?

That 30 minutes was once again pushed. Someone needed and emergency c section so now we were told at least an hour and a half. Now I was getting a little ancy and really hungry. My parents and sister, mother-in-law, and one of my best friends Ali were all here to give me support and company.

I accidentally sat on my IV and made a huge bloody mess in front of Ali, which she loved (sorry Ali). My IV was then moved to the other side and both times they were put it blood went everywhere. I was told that means I have good veins????

I was also told I was having REAL contractions. I was going to have this baby no matter what!

At 3, they assured us it was our turn in the OR, so we began to get ready....again. I walked to the OR, kissed Aaron and was off to get medicine and settled before the Dr came. The Spinal was scary, I think they were having issues, but I tried not to think about it. They did get the spinal to work and before I knew it 6 people in scrubs were running all around finishing up their prep work.

It is hard to describe the feeling of the medicine, but it was rough. I felt like I could hardly breathe and very out of it, but so much better than under drugs with Preston (they gave me a lower dose this time). I was out of it until I heard my Dr say something Like, hey baby girl and I was quickly snapped into the reality. I thought she was out, but it was just her head. Aaron leaned over and told me he could see her head and that she had hair. It took a while for them to get Alayna out, and they kept saying she was a big baby. My guess was that she was barley going to be 8 pounds. I had no clue she was going to be the biggest yet. I was slipping in and out of, but I heard Aaron say look there she is and a Dr was holding her a few feet away. She was big :)

I didn't get to see her much until the recovery room, but we were both doing great! I tried nursing, but she wasn't ready yet. The nurses took her back to give her a bath and do footprints for our baby book. They ended up keeping her because she was trying too hard to breath. They said she had plenty of oxygen, but she was trying too hard. Also they said she needed to get some amniotic fluid out of her lungs, so I think they put a tube down her throat to get some out.

Around 6:30 my mom, dad and sister came back with Taylynn and Preston. It was just Aaron and I in the room and they were so excited to see us. I am so glad they weren't scared of me in the bed. We were told the baby was going to have to stay in the nursery, so Taylynn and Preston went to look at her from the window. About the time they saw her, she was approved to come back to my room, so they were going to get a chance to really see her.

It was a special moment, they gave kisses and touched and gave Alayna a present. They did so great, I am so excited for what the future holds.

I did make hospital treats for the nurses and visitors
Here are some of our great nurses from the day and night

GG and Paw Paw, we are so excited for you to meet her. We wish you could be here with us.
