Girls Night- Gender Dectector

Last night we had our usual girls night. We were missing two girls so we ended up going to Pam's house and playing Mahjong. It was fun, but no one won :(
What I want to blog about is the Monday before. It was close to Katie's Birthday so we had a girls night to celebrate her birthday.

Everyone brought yummy food over to my house and we just hung out. We did take a few old girly quizzes you would find in a 1990's Teen Magazine. We also watched a little bit of Sex and the City, the Movie and talked about our plans for May 27th when the new movie comes out.
Something else we did, that we had never done before was the ring test. This is an old myth that if you let your wedding band dangle above your pregnant belly it would tell you if you were having a girl or boy.

This is me and it said I was having a girl and yes, that's true!

This is Kim and it said she was also having a girl. Well at the time we didn't know the sex, but since then she had her
sonogram and it's a ..........................BOY!

So the test doesn't really work. Oh well we had fun doing it.

Wonderful Weekend

This weekend Aaron took me to the plaza in Kansas City. The weather was perfect for a pregnant girl....not too hot and not to cold.We first ate at the Cheesecake Factory. I really could have skipped the meal and went straight to dessert. We had the White Chocolate Caramel Macadamia nut cheesecake. It was wonderful and just as good as I remembered. I wasn't willing to share with the kids because I knew one piece doesn't go to far, so we got them ice cream which I think they liked even better.

After lunch we went shopping. I wasn't in need of anything so we just strolled around. There were bands playing and the first song we heard was John Mayer. Taylynn and Preston recognized the song so I think they thought it was really John Mayer, ha! Music is their thing, they both LOVE IT!

While in Pottery Barn Taylynn and Preston made me some flowers for Mother's Day.

We don't have a lot of pictures because I didn't have my camera so we used Aaron's phone. I am just glad to document the day because it really was wonderful.

Before we went home we had a graduation party to go to. Two sweet girls from our youth group had a party. One is going to Oklahoma Baptist and the other KSU. It is going to be sad to see all of our seniors leave.

Sunday, Mother's Day was just as wonderful. We went for a quick breakfast before church then after church we met Aaron's mom at Olive Garden so we could take her to lunch. We enjoyed a nice meal, but all this food made us all tired. We all took a nap when we got home and surprisingly everyone woke up in a good mood, even me :)

For dinner we went out to eat breakfast for dinner, my favorite! I even had a special tub of Baskin Robins Peanut Butter and Chocolate ice cream brought to me by Aaron and the kids.

WONDERFUL.

I took a bath and then watched the Amazing Race. The weekend was perfect!

Thank you Aaron, Taylynn and Preston for making motherhood, easy! (sometimes)

I LOVE YOU!

Happy Mother's Day

I just wanted to say Happy Mothers Day to the mothers in my life. My Mom, Grandma, Mother in Law and Aaron's Grandma. We are so blessed to have you in our lives and we wish you all a wonderful day. Thank you for being who you are and loving us completely.

Being a mother is the best greatest thing I have accomplished and one of the biggest joys of my life. I feel so lucky to have the mom's in my life and the friends that surround me that are mom's. Some days are tough, but some are WONDERFUL.
God knew what he was doing when he created the mom role. I LOVE it!

I also want to say Happy Mother's Day to my sister, she has her little baby cookin' inside her belly. I am so excited for you to feel the joys of Motherhood.......welcome to the club.

Have a great day. I'd love to write more and brag on the wonderful mothers in my life, but I am SOOOO tired. (Mollie, that's another thing that come with being in the club :) )

Proverbs 31:17, 18, 27

She girds herself with strength, and strengthens herself daily. She perceives that her provision for her family is good: she does not retire early but works diligently to see to the needs of her family, she is not an idle woman.

Show us your Life- Children Names

Show Us Your Life with Kelly's Korner
Kelly is hosting Show us your Life Children Names. This is a fun one, although I don't really have any great stories, it will be neat for the kids to look back and see what we were thinking before they were born.

In March 2006 we found out we were pregnant with a baby, this was a shock to us so no names were already in the plans. And we weren't one of those couples that already had names we liked.

The first time we looked at a baby name book was on the way home from Bentonville, Ar after telling my parents we were expecting. I had picked up a baby name book and it was huge. I basically went down the list on the ride home and highlighted the names we both agreed would possibly work. We were really stuck with any names, boy and girl so we decided we'd just wait to find out the sex.

A few months later we found out we were having a girl, so the planning began. I remember Aaron and I laying in bed one night discussing names and I mentioned I liked "lynn" and wanted it in her name if we could think of a cute beginning that wasn't so common. I began coming up with names and throwing them out there..........Katelynn, too common.......Maylynn, not quite right.........Taylynn, humm................Taylynn, yes Aaron liked it I liked it. We both agreed this little girl inside me was soon going to be Taylynn Rae.

Taylynn Rae

71/2 months after Taylynn's birthday, we found out we were pregnant again. This time we came up with a girls name before I had my sonogram. The girl name we loved was Alayna, but didn't talk a whole lot about it, just in case this one was going to be a boy. I remember Aaron would throw out random names and one he liked was Devereux. That was completely one sided and wasn't going to stick. I was then hoping for a girl because he really liked that name.

Sonogram day came and it was a boy! We went back to the baby books and looked at what was highlighted. Preston was a name I liked all along. I thought it was preppy and cute, a name that worked for a little boy and a grown man. So on April 4, 2008 a little boy named Preston Scott was born and his name is so perfect for him.

Preston Scott
This past October we became pregnant with #3. I wanted at least one more girl in our family since we already had the name Alayna picked out. I felt like a girl was needed in our family because I had her name and spoke as if we had another girl already.

February 26, 2010 we had our sonogram and it's a GIRL! Or should I say it's Alayna! I was very excited. Now we just needed to think of a middle name and we decided Jane after my mom. The other middle names, just clicked with us. Alayna is the first to have a family name.

Alyana is not here yet, were expecting her in the middle of July. I know this name is perfect for her. I just can't wait to see her and call her by her name.

Alayna Jane
This was at 13 weeks. I am now 29 weeks, but it's my best pregnant picture.

Act of Service

I wanted to acknowledge two special girls. These girls have watched Taylynn and Preston every wednesday night for months now. And they have done it as an act of service.

On Wednesday nights we had youth group bible study, which has ended for the summer. Carly and Maria, sixth graders from our church would come over and play with Taylynn and Preston. Aaron and I struggled when we first started the youth group because we were always in search for someone to watch our children. After LOTS AND LOTS of prayer we were blessed with these sweet little angels.

Taylynn LOVES the girls and would ask for them almost everyday. If I told her they were coming over she would say "and your going to leave?" Ha, she didn't want us there. It is a great feeling knowing they enjoy having the girls come over.

Next year the girls will be in the youth group, so we'll be praying for another blessing. By that time we'll have three, so I know it will be more difficult, but we know we can rely on God.

I love this verse because it is so easy to get caught up in your own world and do what YOU want to be doing instead of using your own time to serve.

Galatians 5:13

You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.

Thank you girls for being selfless and compassionate towards Taylynn and Preston. We'll miss you, but we'd love to spend time with you this summer.

Lifegroup

Saturday we met with out life group. We did something new...........

It was nice to get to sit and chat and get to know the group better. And we had a wonderful Mexican fiesta!!!! Thanks Darci!
Stacy, one of the ladies in our group has an adorable etsy store so I thought I'd share it so you can go check it out. Go here and look at her cute stuff. It is fun knowing someone else who does etsy too.

I had to share this picture of Preston and I, I thought it was too cute!
Hope your having a great week. Today was our last day of MOPS and tomorrow is our last day of Bible Study Fellowship, so it is a sad week :(
We'll be doing the open gymnastics again and Taylynn will start swimming lessons on May 31st. What do you do during the summer?

FEAR FACTOR

Last Sunday we had a Fear Factor event for the youth group. When this show was on TV I was willing and wanting to be a contestant, but this fear factor, not so much. It might be because I am pregnant and have a stronger sense of smell, or the fact that I had to help get everything ready so I knew what was being used.
The kids seemed to have a great time, even though they had to lay with worms on their faces.

I have lots of pictures so I am just going to put random shots from the event:
If you are wondering what something is....you probably don't want to know! It was a GREAT event and no one got sick :)
