Tables

I wanted to add these picture from a couple dinner parties I had. They are only of the table before the parties, I guess we just had too much fun to stop and think to take pictures.
This one was for two couple friends. I got some new dishes on sale after Christmas so I wanted to use them. You can't tell but it was real sparkly.

This one was pretty sparkly also, I love the glitz!

I had my youth girls over for dinner and for our Christmas Party. It was fun; we ate, had a gift exchange, watched Christmas Shoes and played some games.
I decorated the table and made place cards for each girl.

This was hanging from the candler.
I love these girls. We are a group of 9 and they are all High School girls. I spend every Wednesday night with them and I mentor one of the seniors in my group. It's just great walking through life together and helping them get through the hard and easy trails of life.
We were discussing age last wed and some of the girls thought I was 21...... AWESOME! I am not! I am going to turn 28 in March. It was great to hear I look that young though.

He did it!!

Preston is now officially potty trained. It actually all happened in one day. I was talking to my Grandma and she said to just put him in big boy pants and I did. I expected accidents and messes to clean up. In the last two weeks he has had three accidents, two of them were while someone else was watching him. He is such a big boy. I guess he was just waiting for me to take the big step to undies.
Preston, we are so proud of you!

And thank you Grandma!

Speaking of my biggest blog fan (my Grandma). She is in the hospital for a couple weeks trying to get back to normal. She checks my blog more than anyone and she an't while she is there. That is why I haven't posted much, I started posted more when I found out she was reading it. She lives in Louisiana so I don't get to see her often. I have been working the past two days trying to print my blog and I think I finally figured out how to do it. I am getting the format from blog2print then I am printing it from LuLu. Its a lot of work, but I know she'll love it.

If you would pray for her health and that she'll get to go home soon!

This is how to snowboard in Topeka

This is how we do it in Topeka.

This is how we snowboard with kids..........in Topeka!

Aaron and I both love snowboarding and it has just been to long. We were desperate and in need of a little board.

We have got to plan a ski trip soon, this just didn't full fill our need.

We're sitting

She is sitting all by herself. It is funny because this morning she was not doing so good on her own, but tonight is a different story. That just proves how fast they grow and change.

She will sit then intentionally lean back and then catch herself before she falls and she'll do it over and over that she is testing herself. What a big girl!

This means we can head to Kansas City to get her pictures done!!!!! I did some test shots with her new outfit I got for her 6month pictures. Looks pretty cute, but I am not sure on the hair bow.

So proud of my little girl.

Happy Anniverary

Today is my Grandma and Paw-Paw's 67th Anniversary. They have had such a wonderful marriage, one Aaron and I only dream of having. My Grandma told me the story of how they started dating and it's a great one. I'll try to tell it as best as I can:

Martha (my Grandma) was in high school dating a boy and that boy ended up wrecking his car. His dad grounded him and the time he was grounded overlapped a school dance, The boy then asked his best friend Lavon (my Paw-Paw) to take Martha to the dance. I am sure Lavon had no hesitation, but he did what a best friend would do and took Martha and that is where it all started.

They had three children together, 9 grandchildren and now 7 great grandchildren. God has blessed them I'd say

Above all, clothe yourselves with love,
which binds us all together in perfect harmony.
Colossians 3:14

blog design giveaway

I really need a blog makeover and I found Artemisa Blogs, who does cute designs and she is doing a giveaway HERE.

So excited. She is giving away FIVE designs so be sure to enter!

6 months

6 MONTHS OLD TODAY!!!!!

Alayna you are:

eating 1 serving of fruits or veggies along with 1 serving of cereal. You love it so much, that it is hard for your mommy and daddy to feed you. You literally want the spoon in your mouth at all times and you cry when we take it out.

You sleep so well. Most days I have to wake you up to take Taylynn to school. You typically go to bed at 9 and if we let you sleep, you would sleep past 9am. You still nap whenever you like, and this works for me.

You love to play with the remote for the TV. You also have really loved playing with your toys, and it is fun to watch you.

Your mommy loves to hold you. In fact I held you for your nap the other day and it was wonderful.

You are a mommy's girl, and you already have that "look" you give me when you are in someone else arms, but you want your mommy.

You do roll over from your tummy to your back and you'll roll from your back to your side and just hang out there.

You weigh 21 pounds.

You are growing the hair back that you lost after you were born.

You wear mostly 6-12 month clothes, but you do also wear some 12-18 month things.

When you get really excited you make a gasping noise, like you are out of breath.

I love you sweet girl!

And no, it's not summer. We just like to dress up like it is.

Lesson learned

I know one thing, I don't spend enough time with the Lord. I desire it and I seem to constantly be in a conversation with Him and the last few months I feel I have become a good listener by blocking out the boulders that stand between the Lord and I.

It's not enough. Will I ever get to the point where it's enough?
My heart could sit and read His love letter for hours, but my mind will race and chase rabbits all around. And of course the distractions of life, ha! I am lucky to have the opportunity to type this out.

God has his way of GENTLY waking me up and putting me back in His word. Today Taylynn and I had a "tiff"; She just wasn't listening and it was frustrating. I spanked her for it, and she was pretty upset. Mission accomplished right? Wrong! I was wrong to do this. I believe there is a time and place for spanking, but not out of anger or frustration. So why did I do it? Short fuse I guess. For whatever reason, I was wrong and I told Taylynn I was wrong.
I laid in bed with her and told her I was sad that I took my anger out on her. With her kind forgiving heart she said "Mommy don't be sad, it's ok". Such forgiving words. It reminds me of the way the Lord speaks to us. So GENTLE and kind.
I continued to tell her, that I my not be the best mom, but I love her with all my heart. She then said " well why do grown ups get so mad." Why do we? Why do we let the little things upset us? We know this world isn't perfect so why do we expect it to be? Why do we let the fuse inside us get lit? The answer is: Because we DON'T live in a perfect world.

When something like this happens to me and I feel God is trying to get to me, I go to His word. I also opened up my daily devotion and the day was PERFECT for me. The lesson was on GENTLENESS with your children.

But we were gentle among you
like a mother caring for her little children.
1 Thessalonians 2:7

I am a mom who wants to be the best, but I mess up. I use those mess ups to show my children wrong from right. I teach them from my mistakes. I just wish I didn't make so many.
All I want in life is for people to see Jesus in me. I want Taylynn, Preston and Alayna to see Jesus in me. I want to teach them how making mistakes are ok as long as you have the Lord with you and you ask for forgiveness.

This world and all the people in it are far from perfect, but with Jesus we can live a life full of mistakes that turn into little life lessons.
